New page

The Perchance Dragonborn Dragon Break is the only currently-known Fourth Era dragon break, which concerns temporal discontinuities in the province of Skyrim in the Third Century of the Fourth Era. These temporal discontinuities are significant, and possibly expected, given that they strongly overlap with the return of Alduin the World-Eater. As was the case for other Dragon Breaks in this archive, the Perchance Dragonborn dragonbreak was initially discovered by Imperial Chronoarcanologists reviewing Imperial prison records. In this case, the discontinuity concerns the identity of one of several prisoners taken captive by the Imperial Legion and set to be executed in uesp-l:Helgen when the city was destroyed by Alduin, leading to their escape. While the list of prisoners on this occasion is largely consistent, there is always a one-person deviation, and from that point, history necessarily spirals in various directions.

The following individuals have all been seen to occupy this "position" on the lists:
* Velaserra, an Altmer refugee fleeing Thalmor persecution in Summerset who later went on to become affiliated with the College of Winterhold.
* Kumarra Honey-Tongued, an Argonian woman who had originally been raised among the Argonian community on the docks at uesp-s:Windhelm.

The Perchance Dragonborn break is unique by comparison to the other Dragon Breaks listed on this archive as, while not all of the noted prisoners are ultimately successful in challenging Alduin nor do they all lead down the same histories, all of the occupants of the list actually satisfy the prophecy that relates to the same period - in this case, all identified subjects are simultaneously the Last Dragonborn. It's possible the fact that some of them ultimately fail to prevent the return of Alduin is the reason for a dragon break occurring at this period of time, as, obviously, the continuation of linear time would require one of them to succeed. Alternatively, rather than Akatosh breaking to allow one to succeed, it's possible the failure of one of the candidates leads to the dragon break.
